John Davenport Executive Board Member- President (Visionary founder)

My educational background includes a Dual Masters; MBA/MSL (Masters in Business Administration and Masters of Science in Leadership with Specializations in Organizational Leadership/Crisis Management), a BA in Liberal Arts (emphasis in Social Justice). Over the last 20 years I have proudly served as a Mental Health Case Manager, Behavior/ Gang Intervention Specialist, Education/Transition/Safety Coordinator, Athletic Director and Physical Education instructor (k-12). Additionally, I have experience as an organizational development consultant, community liaison, and emergency preparedness coordinator. I proudly served in the U.S. Army for nearly 10 years!

The sole purpose in establishing this organization is to provide youth with High quality-year-round opportunities, events, programs and services designed to empower them in becoming positive and productive citizens and leaders for their respective communities! Our mission is to truly provide both academic and athletic platforms for youth to demonstrate and showcase their talents and skills! We strongly emphasize and encourage an “Education First” atmosphere!

Sheila Davenport Executive Board Member- VP/Cheer Director

Hello, I am Coach Sheila Davenport; My educational background includes a Masters in Teaching (emphasis in Special Education) and a BA in Business Administration. I have been coaching youth cheerleading for about 9 years. I am the Vice-President and Cheer Director for the Tacoma Steelers. I am certified as a youth cheerleading coach by the National Youth Sports Association (NYSCA). The Washington State Cheer Coaches Association (WSCCA)/Washington Interscholastic Activities Association (WIAA) has certified me in levels one and two stunting. My number one priority is safety first!

I recognize that I hold a position of trust and responsibility that deals with a sensitive and formative period of a child’s development. I have understanding, patience and the capacity to work with children. I am also sensitive to the mental and physical limitations of children. It is my goal to have a positive and lasting impact on the cheerleaders I coach. As a coach I teach- love (for self, team members and others)! I am committed to sharing my knowledge and passion about cheerleading with others.

I absolutely love working with and learning from kids! I am deeply committed to providing family-oriented programs and services! I am also A Cancer Survivor!!

Joan Marion Executive Board Member- Community Health, Education, and Wellness Services liaison?!! (C.H.E.W.S.)

My name is Joan Marion. I am a proud single mother of three children. My youngest is 7 years old and is a team member of the Tacoma Steelers. I am a Navy vet and currently an owner of an adult family home which provides care for individuals with disabilities. I am a graduate student at University of Washington Tacoma pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work. My passion in life is advocating for those individuals in need and speaking up for individuals who don’t have the ability to speak up for themselves. I am their voice.

My role in the Puget Sound Youth Empowerment Services is to provide outreach to youth and their families. I promote physical and emotional wellness in hopes to decrease childhood obesity and increase self esteem. I encourage education, and strongly emphasize achievement of personal and professional goals as well as team building amongst our youth in the organization. My role is to recruit children and their families to join Puget Sound Youth Empowerment Services and establish business and community partnerships in support of our organizational goals.
